My 8 year old grandson loves it. He's just a little impatient in getting everything in there so the box will close! Wish there was a hinge on the box to keep it closed and might just try to add one. Everything in the kit is so cool! His dad helped him set everything up but I'm sure a child of that age could figure everything out for himself. Not so sure about a younger child but this is his first magic kit.

Granddaughter is enjoying this box of goodies very much. Wish I could have been more generous Because I normally love all Melissa Doug products. Usually they are indestructible and well made. However, I purchased two of these Magic kits. One for a nephew, and one for my granddaughter. I didn't get to see the condition my nephew's kit was in after opening the gift. Too much going on to even try on Christmas Eve. You know, removing the shrink wrap, ect., might have lost pieces. However ... I was with my granddaughter alone and carefully we opened the kit, and slowly we went over the instructions of each trick, finding two of the items were broken. The sweet looking box that hides a coin from the audience's view. Very cool concept, but it was broken straight out of the box. I know this because I was the first to hold it. The hinge was cracked, and the door hung loose, it was a matter of seconds before it fell off completely. And the magic wand was cracked. Comon how can a magician do his or her act without a wand. I placed it all in a bag for her to take home, as she was so excited to be soon showing her mother and father her new tricks. But, I was so disappointed to tell her dad when he picked her up that two items were already broken. I wanted to be sure she wasn't blamed for breaking them.

Awesome set. I got it for my 9 year old daughter. She loved it! She was able to follow instructions in most of the tricks.

The magic tricks were sturdy (made of wood). I think they will last longer than cheaper versions of the same tricks.

My six year loved it. we had to help her with direction once we showed her once she got it !

I did not get all of the parts to this item. I received two black cards for the 34;Magic Number Prediction,34; but one other card is missing. I have the red card, starting with number 2, black card starting with number 16, pink card starting with number 4, blue card starting with number 32 and green card starting with number 8.I am missing the card starting with number 1. Therefore, I can not perform the trick. I only received 3 of the cylinders in the Cylinder Squeeze. I did not receive a blue cylinder. I have purchased this Magic Set before and it is great. It is easy to show children how to perform the 34;tricks.34; But, since I did not receive everything that I ordered, I am very disappointed this time. S Shrewsberry

My second grader got this at Christmas. I’d say 80 of the tricks are cool and work for a child his age. The magic number cards are already showing wear as the painted numbers are getting harder to read. The box acts as a nice prop and a storage case.

Super fun tricks that my 8 year old can do quickly. The quality is great. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The price is on point and the wooden box is sturdy and able to keep all the equipment in. I would take a half star away for the box being splintered. I will have to sand it down before my kids get hurt..

Total waste of money - NO INSTRUCTIONS within packaging can't get a refund because kids lost parts as trying to figure out how to play with the game.

Very well built and the tricks all work. Some of them are a little corny/too simple but it's also aimed at pretty young children. Worth the money though if you're wanting a sturdy magic kit for the wannabe magician in your household.
