This is a functional, colorful, and practical gift for Baby. It works as described. However, my 6 month old immediately put the yellow shape in his mouth and was able to but off a chunk of wood and paint came off in his mouth. (He only has his 2 bottom teeth.) Moral of the story: Wait to give this toy to your child until after he’s done teething.

The corners are pretty sharp so I just let my LO play with the blocks. Although, I don't feel too great about the blocks either. Some of them have splintered spots and then painted over, so I don't let her have those either.

Ordered this for my son. The one I got had missing pieces and the overall quality wasn't what I expect from Melissa and Doug toys. It felt very cheaply made. I returned for a refund.

Good quality toy like most of Melissa and Doug, however it says ages 2 and up. This is simply not the case, there are several shapes similar in shape and the holes are close to exactly the size of the shape that it makes it very challenging. I would recommend this product for ages 3 and up.
