What a clever concept! You insert a colored plastic sleeve depending on what type of drink you want (like a purple sleeve for grape juice). Then you insert the ice cubes into the machine. Then it's ready to go. You indicate how many ice cubes you want to come out (1-2) and which drink you selected. The colored sleeve drops into a drinking cup so it looks like that kind of juice poured into the cup. My only complaint is that it only comes with 2 ice cubes. I contacted Melissa Dough and they do not sell extra ice cubes. My 7 year old loves to play restaurant and this was a fun addition. No batteries required.

Our grandson loves it. He will be 4 and likes to play restaurant. The ice and drink dispenser works well. We also bought the extra set that includes a water and milk.

This is a sturdy piece, well made, as all Melissa and Doug products are. It is a very interesting concept-- it's a juice dispenser that comes with four types of juice and two ice cubes. Three of the juices are transparent so you can see the ice cubes in the glasses (only the orange juice is not transparent.) You put the juice and ice cubes in the top and push down on the front level to have them come out into the cup. It's a nice toy overall, my issues are there is no storage and not all the juices fit in the dispenser (in fact only one juice at a time fits.) My other issue is that is it hard to get the juices into the dispenser. You have to put fair amount of pressure on them to get them to click into place. Right now, my three year old has trouble with that. So he puts the juice in and pushes down on the lever but the juice doesn't come out because he didn't push it into the dispenser enough and then he gets frustrated because nothing comes out. I assume that hell get better at this as he gets older, but it is for 3 so that's a little discouraging.

I wasn't sure how my kid would like this, but she loves her play kitchen and pretends to be running a restaurant frequently, so we tried it. This drink dispenser is the best thing ever for her restaurant! She loves taking orders (ice or no ice?) and delivering these drinks. The kinetic aspect isn't super exciting, the whole set up is very sturdy and durable. It's made of 1/2 inch boards, well finished and without sharp corners or splinters, great paint job and stickers. It's not 34;another piece of plastic34; but a really durable, well-made, somewhat timeless toy that will be enjoyed, thoroughly, for years and then can be handed down to other kids. I thought about giving this 4 stars due to the price, but upon thinking about it? This drink toy will last a LONG TIME and is totally worth $30.

This toy is ok. It's a fun addition to a restaurant type play food setup. My kids like that it's interactive and it seems fairly well made. The reason I'm giving it three stars rather than four is the ice. It's arguably the most fun part of the entire thing but there are just two individual ice cubes included. My kids don't fuss with the insert aspect of the cups and they just use the clear outer cups as water glasses and what are supposed to be the inserts as cups themselves so two ice cubes just isn't enough. Even with the outer cups being used two ice cubes is stingy. Even little kids realize that nobody puts just one ice cube in a glass. So what do they do with such a lack of ice cubes? They put other toys where the ice cubes go and pretend they're ice cubes! Now I get the fun of digging a little wooden lemon out of the ice cube chute. Really, melissa and doug, a minimum of five or so ice cubes is what this toy needs.

elissa amp; Doug Thirst Quencher Dispenser Pretend Play Toy Four Stars The child for whom this play set was presented was already accustomed to play food and drink. She easily understood no actual liquids/ice would be part of experience with this toy. It is a bit limited in the combinations of pretend beverages to dispense, but she somehow worked various plastic fruits to supplement the fun! Overall, the Melissa amp; Doug Thirst Quencher Dispenser Pretend Play Toy made a fun addition to the little one's kitchen/restaurant/mad-scientist lab.

We absolutely love Melissa and Doug products for our daughter. They are usually made out of wood and they remind us of toys we played with when we were children. Melissa and Doug have a certain quality that they live up to in all of their toys. This one is no exception to their quality. One of the things I as a mother absolutely love about the thirst quencher dispenser is that it encourages imaginative play and helps kids develop fine motor and sequencing skills. Now they advertise this as being for a child of 3 years or older, It comes with 2 ice cubes, 4 juice inserts,2 cups, a menu card, and a dispenser. My 4 year old LOVES playing restaurnaut ( how she pronounces restaurant), So toys like this are great for enhancing their already massive imaginations and sometimes I get one that has a 34;worm34; or dirty socks. It's great and we love it.
