Mission: Meteoritical society is a non-profit scholarly organization founded in 1933 to promote the study of extraterrestrial materials, including meteorites and space mission returned samples and their history.

Programs: Publication of a world leading planetary science journal, meteoritics and planetary science (maps); presentation of awards-honors for recognition of outstanding contributions to the science of meteoritics and closely allied fields; maintained records of all known meteorites and publication in its meteoritical bulletin; the organization of annual meetings and workshops to encourage and support young planetary scientists world-wide; provided scientific information to 1,000 subscriber members consisting of scientists and amateur enthusiasts from over 33 countries interested in planetary science, meteoritical science(s) including but not limited to cosmic dust, asteroids and comets, natural satellites, planets, impacts and the origins of the solar system; management of its website providing membership contributions of information on news, events and resources to encourage the advancement of planetary sciences; and management of the society's endowment fund.
