Mission: Miami heart research institute is an independent, not-for-profit 501(3) organization with the mission to stop heart disease through research, education and prevention and to perform the functions of, or to carry out the purposes of, florida heart research foundation, inc. , a florida not-for-profit corporation devoted to joint missions of educating the public about the dangers of cardiovascular disease and continuing research to prevent heart disease.

Programs: In support of florida heart research foundation, inc. , we continue to fund cardiovascular research. We are well positioned for a long and productive future in cardiovascular research. We take great pride in funding research that is deemed meritorious and scientifically valid. To achieve our goals, we must continue to expand our research capabilities and educational programs through our collaborative research with organizations of excellence. Publications of project results in leading research journals as well as presentation of project results at conferences and seminars are required. Results leading to breakthroughs, patents, etc. That improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies are the ultimate goal. 6-months progress report along with budgets on how the funds were expended is required.

In addition a yearly scholarship grant is given for cardiac nursing for which we receive positive recognition and feedback from participants either through surveys, awards or testimonials.

education is established by supporting a lecturer of distinction to provide the annual irwin r. Callen, md memorial lecture every year during the fcacc meeting. A researcher of the year is nominated by the american college of cardiology. We require a research update along with a budget on how the funds were expended withing one year from the date the grant was issued. Also, a grant was given to the american college of cardiology to pursue quality improvement in cardiology.
