Before your start with this kit you should already know and understand basic electronics knowledge, such as knowing and understanding what a resistor is, what a capacitor is, what a transitor is and what these components do. Then you have to want to learn to code C. I really really wish RadioShack was still around because they had kits to build radios and such that would teach you everything about such things. Now it feels like knowledge is supposed to be a secret.

My 10 year old started working on it this summer. He is loving it. He is doing simple LED projects with simple programing. 1 project a day. I guess its perfect for early learners but I would say the apt age for ths kit is 13 years if they want to do solo. But its a great opportunity to learn and start early if your kid is into STEM.

As a 30 year-old getting ready to start IoT programming, the ELEGOO Mega board and the kit was more than enough to get started on. It's not gonna help you build world-changing things, I suppose, but it's certainly better and comprehensive than most kits out there.

I love the variety of things included here, many of which are easy to source more of if needed. Fantastic set of capabilities I wish I could give every high school student in steam one of these and access to a 3D printer

No instructions or online help. Too complicated to even begin without SOME sort of guidelines or help. Totally worthless and a waste of money and time. Avoid these like the plague.

Was required to buy this kit as it was needed for some of my college courses. The instruction quality is poor but the kit is good value for the money.

Great kit for someone attempting to enter the Arduino world. I downloaded the Arduino IDE and was able to go through each sample project with no problem. I also used some of the parts and sample projects on some Nano boards that I had. All I had to do was change I/O assignments. It was super easy to download the code into the board as it worked flawlessly. Up and running in minutes is rare in my experience. I have been developing firmware for over 40 years and was impressed with this little kit. My review may be biased since I have a lot of experience in this area. A beginner should have no problem but should probably understand some basic electronics. The tutorials have a theory of operation section for each of the sensors, motors, etc. which was nice. It is always helpful to know how something works.
