First point: These meals have gotten ridiculously expensive. $11 for a freeze dried meal. Second, they say there are two servings per package but that doesnt work for me. I often backpack alone and cannot store the leftover portion. In fairness, everything has gotten expensiveI have always bought Mountain House as I like their meals. They taste very good. I have not busted open this container yet as Im finishing up my previous Mountain House container. I am confident that the quality and taste of the food will be very good. If there was something they could do to bring down the prices though.

I tried two packages of the food so far just to test out the quality (beef stroganoff, and chicken with rice). I've had some stored for 2 years now. I was very impressed with the flavor and quality of the food. It tastes very fresh and close to a home-cooked quality and probably better than what most restaurants would serve you. The portion sizes are very generous. Enough for two people if needed. With a shelf life of 30 years, you can't go wrong having a few of these buckets on hand for an emergency situation.The packaging is high quality and seems very durable. Prep is very easy. Boiling water in the bag, mix it well, seal it up, leave for 10 minutes, and it's done. I have no complaints with this product. WILL UPDATE in 2051 if I still have one left, to confirm how well the flavor held up!

Where to start...The chicken fried rice is amazing, the granola w/ milk is great as well for the morning, the beef stronganov w/ noodles is great for lunch and dinner and the beef stew is also amazing for brunch but the flavor can be a bit over powering. The spaghetti with meat sauce tasted a bit bland so had to add a bit of parmesan cheese and tobasco for flavoring. The bucket itself is very useful in storing these pouches and other future pouches bought. Will recommend again but not so much the spaghetti.

I bought these to take on a weekend kayaking trip. I wanted to limit the amount of stuff I brought to take up less space and these were perfect. They tasted great and were super easy to reconstitute. For some of them, I did have to add more water and let it sit longer than was recommended because it was still a little crunchy but that's not a big deal at all. I will be buying again next year when we go overnight kayaking again.

This food is good and has real meat to add protein to your diet. Most survival food is just alot of starch that gets boring and you tire from quickly.

In Miami we get hurricanes once in a while; when this happens, people rush to the supermarkets and empty the food shelves in just a couple of days; Mountain House meals are real food easy to make, and it tastes very good, compared to other freeze-dried food brands; this food can last in storage for 30 years; also, I used the buckets the food envelopes come in as water reservoirs during the last hurricane.

These meals are light and easy to pack. We use em backpacking, hunting and camping. Easy prep and cleanup. Highly recommend getting these.

For multi day expeditions these are great. Light weight - tasty - nutritious. Expect to eat a 2 serving pack each.

I like that it comes in a bucket, and had no problem with any of the meal choices. I would however prefer if they had a bucket with just the beef stroganoff cause that is simply the best one. This is a fairly good second best choice though.

These are tasty dishes though serving size says two if your hiking or paddling hard your going to need one per person has been my experience. Buying them in bulk here has been cheaper than buying at big box stores. There are some better freeze dried meals on market but costs start climbing and honestly they are not that much better.
