Mission: To prevent and alleviate child abuse and neglect for very young children in central oregon by providing comprehensive and well coordinated services to children, parents and other family members. Relief nursery services include therapeutic early childhood classes, home visits, family support and counseling. Enhanced visitation services are funded through a contract with dhs/child welfare and include parent training and supervised visits for families with children in foster care.

Programs: Mountainstar family relief nursery is dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect through community support and therapeutic services that help vulnerable children and families succeed. We are the only program in crook, deschutes and jefferson counties providing therapeutic classrooms, parenting education services, and family support targeting young children at significant risk for abuse and neglect. Last year, we served 404 children 0-5 years old and their family members through relief nursery services which are documented to reduce the risk of maltreatment by 70%. Additionally, mountainstar staff supervised weekly family visits for 89 children in the foster care system - a project funded through contracts with dhs/child welfare.
