The screen was burning up on the old one. Still putting out plenty of heat though. Replacement is pretty reasonably priced, so why not. The original is riveted in place, a 9/64 drill bit seemed to do the job getting the old ones out. Did have to use some pliers to get the back out. I was trying to do this quick of course put it back together wrong the first time. The provided screws and nuts work great. Fired right up and does a great job. I always keep a fire extinguisher handy around this thing, had an old one leak and.... not fun.Pretty simple to replace - thumbs up.

My heater is quite old and the screens were getting in horrible shape. The screws were very difficult to remove but I got it apart and installed these new screens. So far they even seem to work better than the old ones. It would be nice to find an easy way to pick up the ring that actually bolts them down the old ones were in very poor shape. Thank you

I have and older style take top with 3 burner in one reflector. After having replaced the burners, knowing what I now know, I would take the old screens out and blow the screen and the burner housing out with compressed air. Mine had a lot of rusty crud that had to be removed. Then reinstall the old screens turning them 90. Fire it up and see if it works better. I'm guessing it will. Having said all of that... With the new burners, mine puts out as much heat on med as the old ones did on high.

Unable to find repair parts for a knock off brand heater. I purchased this repair kit and only had to re drill and add 2 holes. I also have several Mr Heater models that are older but still in working order. I'm going to order another for a spare.

The porch is my cigar lounge. The tank top heater is wonderful, but was looking awful as the old screens rusted out. It's like new and only took a few minutes (while I enjoyed a cigar). The hardest part was drilling out the old rivets, but that was easy too. A solid investment as the cost of the heaters has gone through the roof.
