I wanted the best dead bolt I could find. I looked at virtually everything. Importantly, I wanted a bump resistant, heavy duty lock, that in case of a break-in would either deter or delay intruders long enough to prepare measures to repulse. Additionally, since it will be on my front door, it needed to look good and match existing hardware. It looks great. The price before taxes was $175.00, and that is a high price for an item that you could find for more than $100.00 less, but also a less secure lock. My feeling is that the money you save by buying the cheaper lock won't do you much good if you are dead.
