Mission: Music Theatre for Young People, a division of Music Theatre Wichita, is an educational arts organization that prepares Wichita-area youth to make positive life choices by providing performing arts opportunities in a professional musical theatre environment.

Results: During its 30+ years as an independent organization, MTYP produced 133 musical productions, held an average of eight camps each year, and hired professional artistic staff to work with the students it served. Since combining with Music Theatre Wichita in 2021, MTYP has produced its first full-scale musical, Frozen, Jr. , which featured 80 young performers. This summer, MTYP/MTW will offer 7 different camps for children ages 5-18.This fall, students will have the opportunity to audition for and perform in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.

Target demographics: children of all ages cultivate their artistic talents on and off the stage through camps, workshops, and full-scale musical theatre productions.

Geographic areas served: Wichita, Kansas

Programs: Founded in 1984, Music Theatre for Young people has been devoted to the education and enrichment of the youth of Wichita for the past 38 years. As of 2021, MTYP is now the educational branch of Music Theatre for Wichita.
