Mission: My Hope Chest's mission is to make women whole again in body, mind and spirit by funding breast reconstruction surgery and educating women on their reconstruction options. We address the physical and emotional needs of women who have lost their breasts to cancer. Our work restores lives not only for the women seeking help, that fall through the cracks of medical care, but by restoring their confidence and self esteem, we heal their families too. My Hope Chest closes the chapter on cancer and helps survivors return to a normal life with feelings of self-worth, renewed self-confidence and completeness ~ a true "Celebration of LIFE!"

Results: My Hope Chest has an ongoing wait-list. We help 8-12 women a year. Our mission greatly depends on the economy and folks knowing we exist. We receive most of our referrals FROM the largest breast cancer institutions, Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society that do not fund this unique mission.

Target demographics: Insured, uninsured and under insured breast cancer survivors with financial assistance for breast reconstruction.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 12 women with surgery or bill pay assistance.

Geographic areas served: My Hope Chest is a 17 year old national grassroots charity. Our

Programs: Our core programs are: Funding breast reconstruction surgery- The "final step of breast cancer treatment. " Each surgery costs an estimated $13,500 as it is a surgeries of 3 surgeries and spans up to one year. Co-Pay Assistance- Helping "insured" survivors who want reconstruction with large deductibles of up to $7.000.Bill Pay Assistance- Helping women in active treatment, with non-medial bills.
