Causes: Civil Rights

Mission: To unite New Jersey communities to end human trafficking.

Results: The NJCAHT is proud to report that it now represents over 200 affiliated organizations, with the same number again of individual volunteers donating their expertise on at least one of our 17 committees. Our Speakers Bureau has fulfilled over 50 virtual speaking requests from July 2020 to June 2021, and we're excited to return to in person trainings as soon as it's safe. However trainings are delivered to the public and professional groups, either in-person or virtually, we're delivering a crucial message of how to keep our communities safe from human trafficking. Our educational programming includes our January Internship Program, our Scholarship Program, Locker Slam 2.0,1Huddle games, and we're in production on several PSAs. Our Healthcare Committee works tirelessly to educate medical professionals to be able to recognize the signs of human trafficking. The NJCAHT Legislative Committee helped get important awareness legislation passed in January 2021, and is working on state and federal legislation to help survivors pick up the pieces of their life after experiencing trafficking. While some of our in-person events like SOAP (which has to date educated over 600 volunteers, delivered over 70,000 bars of SOAP, and visiting 800 hotels and motels in NJ since 2014) have been postponed for safety reasons, we continue to deliver interesting online events exploring what it is to survive human trafficking, as well examining the trafficking of boys, young men and LGBTQ youth, and labor trafficking. Our Slave Free Commerce Committee has educated hundreds on the effects of slavery in the supply chain, recently looking at the issue of ethical chocolate. The commitment to unite NJ communities to end human trafficking is the guiding force of the NJCAHT. To learn more, visit safernj. org.
