Supplies: blue paper plates, any size; adhesive spray, clean dry sand, small pebbles, paper umbrellas, hot glue gun glue sticks, small scraps of colorful cloth approximately 2x3I used the paper umbrellas to make summer table decorations for the local Senior Activity Center. Using a paper plate as the base, I sprayed adhesive on the top of a plate. Pour a handful of clean, dry sand evenly on the adhesive, followed by placing small pebbles on the sand. Glue each pebble in place by a small amount of hot glue from a hot glue gun. Next, again using the hot glue gun, hold an umbrella at a slight angle to a small stone, attaching the stone to the side the end of the wooden pole, making a base for the leaning umbrella. Continue holding the stone to the pole until the glue is no longer hot. Clear sand from a small area on the prepared plate with your finger or a flat blade, making the area no larger than the size of the stone. Place the stone umbrella on the plate, attaching to the plate with hot glue. Again, hold in place until the hot glue holds. Cut a piece of colorful cloth approximate 2x3. Place glue the piece of cloth under the umbrella. Dada...a miniature diorama of a beach scene is made. More dioramas were made until each table had a center piece.
