Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Nutmeg provides low-cost spay/neuter services for cats & dogs throughout Connecticut and beyond. Our mission is to end pet overpopulation. It is our dedication and desire to help end the needless practice of euthanasia at animal-facilities and private shelters. It is our vision that this clinic will help bring awareness to the community while decreasing unwanted litters being born. In 2017, our clinic became the first and only Connecticut non-profit to join the Humane Society of the United States “Pets for Life” program, an initiative acting as a bridge to services people want and need for their pets and be the catalyst for comprehensive veterinary care, supplies and information for underserved communities. Government program such as social security, housing vouchers, foods stamps, etc. currently exist to provide a variety of assistance to people. In that same spirit, recognizing the emotional, mental, and physical benefits a pet brings, PFL is working towards pet services as being part of a more robust system of support.
