My PT gave this to me for carpal tunnel issues. It is a unique design different from anything else I've seen. It stays in place pretty well if I tighten it a little more at the wrist, so it can't slide up the arm. Unlike everything else, this doesn't go around the thumb, which is great because wrist braces always do and hurt around the bottom of the thumb eventually. It is stiff enough to support my wrist well for typing general activities; there are soft pieces of rubber on the underside of the wrist to help stop the wrist from bending down, and in general it stops it from going up, so the wrist is truly in a neutral position. I can also wear it more, since my fingers are free from fabric and the brace itself doesn't get nearly as dirty as something else which goes further down the hand thumb - cleaning, cooking etc are easier. That being said, however, this thing is HARD to get off. It is very tight and the Velcro is VERY sticky! It's a good thing I can leave it on do more without taking it off on like my other braces; I sometimes do it with my teeth. That probably helps it work, since it stops it from sliding up, but it should be taken into consideration by someone without a lot of arm/hand strength, arthritis, etc.
