I purchased this badge holder back in October 15, 2012 and used it roughly 5 months of daily usage (swiping in my id card / keeping it clipped to my pants loop). It was treated normally, not excessive use as I only need to show my badge for security and to swipe into the building.I started noticing wear on the string around the rubber stopper about a month ago, and made a mental note to try to 'fix' it myself (cut it after the wear, and re-thread it). Unfortunately I didn't get around to it and yesterday it just 'snapped' and became useless (the string wound itself inside and cannot open the reel without damaging the product beyond repair).I was hoping this was more durable as I've used cheaper items and the string worked just fine. I think the rubber stopper wears on the string incorrectly, removing this rubber stopper would definitely reduce that strange wear right at the end.Don't expect more than about 4-5 months of usage on this without any improvement to the clip end.

I used to have one of these that just had the carabiner style clip, loved it, and it broke. My work gave me one with the money-clip style clip, and while it worked just wasn't the same, and would often come off my belt.I found this one online and it's great. I use the carabiner clip all the time and if my belt loops are too big I switch to the other one. The spring action is fine, and this will be my first choice for badge carrying from now on.

Very well constructed. A really good little product for ID's/badges. Plus very reasonable price. The recoil of the line works great.

This has been an excellent solution for my oldest son who has a key to the house. Several times, he has left the key in the door. Or he has left his key in his pocket or on a table, or some other place he cannot remember. This key ring now holds his key and the carabiner is attached to his school bag. We have not had any incidences of a misplaced key since the day he attached this carabiner to his school bag. The price is fantastic compared to others on this site and it does exactly what we need it to do (keeps his key in the same accessible spot at all times)!

The reel worked great for a few months and then the string wore down. My work uses lots of key-card touch doors, so it suffered repeated daily use

I've had the same one for 3 years without incident. It hangs on the outside of my bag and whenever I need to show my ID to get into all my campus buildings (very often) I can show it & it easily retracts back into place. It's lightweight, and both the clip and string have stood up to very frequent usage over the past few years even while holding multiple keys, an ID badge & rewards cards.

This turned out to be bigger than I thought it would be. It seems sturdy and like good quality. I really like this one!

No complaints. THey function as expected. The outer metal ring needed some tweaking on one, to ensure it stayed in place.

I love this thing. 10 times better than my last retractible reel badge holder thing. I feels sturdy and seems to be well made.

I break these things all the time, at least with the heavier duty ones they go a little longer. Nice buy.

My work recently updated their entry/exit system. This carabiner makes getting in and out a breeze - no more hunching over with the card around my neck. It fits well on the belt - very secure. Highly recommended!

The cord broke within 2-3 weeks making it a complete waste of money. The chord got stuck ans when I tried to pull it out, the chord snapped in two.

When I first received the product, I added my ID badge then clipped it to my belt. The thing fell apart right away. I could piece it back together, but it wouldn't stay together.

These are great key holders. I bought 1 to see if I would like it and now I'm going to by several more.

This style ID badge holder is superior to the belt clip-on type. They easily clip on and off a pants loop. This vendor had the most reasonable price and provided very prompt delivery. I give them to friends if they ask. When I want more, I'll come back here.

I bought these for our ski passes. They are MUCH better than the previous incarnations as these hold well yet are easy to take on and off to change to another jacket. Who knows how long the retractable cord will last. I will update the review when it fails.

As simple as this product is it's great. Does what it's suppose to do. I love that it has 2 options in how you can carry it.

Very durable and easy to use. Double the function because of belt clip and belt hook. Great for casual and business attire.
