My first pair were a Big Lots Grand Opening special more than a decade ago. I just retired that pair two years ago. You can return the old pair for a 15 coupon-takes care of the freight. I was never a sandal/flip-flop guy till diabetes and advice to wear a more breathable shoe when possible. Folk lore? Perhaps but I found sandals to be an ancient item for modern times. Many of the low-star reviews here are sadly unanswered by Okabashi. Some of the ain't what they used to be complaints may be due to folks wearing a well-worn,well-loved pair and getting a new pair. Like a pair of shoes, there may be a break-in period that doesn't seem answered here(or Okabashi's website). Before buying, check reviews low high and visit Okabashi's website. They have been around since 1984,made in Buford,Ga.(aka USA) and started by a second generation son of a British-Iranian immigrant. Still family owned. Made of USA components(soy) recyclable materials and guaranteed for two years. You can phone or email. Research, question and offer feedback if purchasing after slipping into a pair. They work for me.
