Mission: Founded on September 5,1968, PAHO Foundation delivers its mission by mobilizing resources, convening leaders and collaborating with partners to develop, evaluate and foster the implementation of regionally relevant public health models. These models are intended to have a profound and positive impact on seemingly intractable problems undermining the health and prosperity of people in the Americas. Our goal is to ensure the development of sustainable models that can be replicated and scaled across the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.

Results: PAHO Foundation is involved in a variety of projects that improve the health and lives of people throughout the Americas. In the past, through the generosity of Merck & Co. , Inc. , PAHO Foundation has partnered in the donation of Mectizan tablets since 1989, enough for nearly eight million treatments. PAHO Foundation has recently partnered with IFPMA to strengthen women's cancer prevention and control in the Americas.

Target demographics: improve the health and wellbeing of the people of the Americas.

Geographic areas served: Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the United States and Canada.

Programs: To achieve the goals of our targeted efforts, PAHO Foundation manages programs in three ongoing focus areas: 1.non-communicable diseases, 2.communicable diseases, and 3.health systems strengthening.
