Mission: Inspired by the distinguished life and legacy of Pat Tillman - professional athlete, military hero and a man of strong character and kindness - the Pat Tillman Foundation seeks to create a community of scholars dedicated to improving their own lives, the lives of their families and their country by creating a spirit of service. The Pat Tillman Foundation carries forward Pat's legacy of leadership and civic action by supporting future generations of leaders who embody the American tradition of citizen service. To honor Pat, the Pat Tillman Foundation inspires others to create positive social change through its Leadership Through Action programs with scholarships and grants for veterans, active servicemembers, their families, and college students across the country. Through military or civilian service an entire generation of youth has the capacity to improve their communities and their country. . . both now and throughout their lives. The Pat Tillman Foundation provides them with the resources and support to make a difference.

Results: the inagural class of Tillman Military Scholars funded 52 scholars in 16 states and awarded $642,000 in funds.

Programs: The mission of the pat tillman foundation is to invest in military veterans and their spouses through educational scholarships; building a diverse community of leaders committed to service to others. Founded in 2008, the tillman military scholars program supports our nations active-duty service members, veterans and military spouses by investing in their higher education. As a supplement to the post-9/11 gi bill, the scholarship covers direct study-related expenses, including tuition and fees, books and living stipend, for scholars who are pursuing undergraduate, graduate or post- graduate degrees as a full-time student at a public or private, u. S. -based accredited institution. Since its inception, the tillman military scholars program has grown in both scope and impact (continued on schedule o) investing over 4.6 million in scholarships for 290 tillman military scholars at 85 academic institutions nationwide. The scholarship is not a gift; it's an investment in excellence and potential. The program unites the best talent and leadership from the military to make a significant, positive impact for our country and communities through their studies in medicine, law, business, government, education and the arts. Aided by a grassroots marketing effort, the foundation received 1,872 complete applications during a month-long submission window. After months of consideration and thorough consultation with 14 university partner institutions leading the way in student veteran support services, 59 candidates (34 at-large, 25 through university partners) were selected to join the fifth class of tillman military scholars. During the years ended december 31,2013 and 2012, the foundation awarded 1,379,000 and 958,000, respectively, in scholarship support. As of december 31,2013 and 2012, the board has designated 1,050,000 and 676,500 in funds for anticipated scholarship fund renewals for current tillman military scholars.
