Mission: Pacific Symphony was founded in 1978 and is the largest professional American orchestra established in the last 50 years. It was created to provide Orange County with classical music, and today presents more than 100 concerts a year serving some 275,000 residents and visitors. The orchestra performs at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and at Pacific Amphitheatre in the summer. Its annual season includes classical, pops, chamber music, family and youth presentations and special events serving the diverse population of the region.

The organization enjoys a 29 consecutive year history of balanced budgets, demonstrating exemplary fiscal management. In advancing a new strategic plan, greater visibility is an organizational objective, which was earnestly advanced in 2018 with an invitational debut at Carnegie Hall in April 2018, a five-city tour to China in May, and a nationally broadcast concert on PBS Great Performances in June 2018

Pacific Symphony is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1982, and donations are tax-deductible.
