Programs: Parent information center of delaware, inc. (pic) is the only nonprofit organization in delaware whose mission is to serve families of children with a variety of disabilities, families who are historically marginalized, and families who are non-english speakers, and who by reason of these characteristics are often less likely to have access to their child's education. Pic empowers families to advocate for their children's needs by providing families with information, education, and training through one-on-one consultations, webinars, workshops, and electronic news bulletins. Parents who participate in pic learning opportunities are better equipped to participate in their child's education, child development, and ultimately see increased student achievement. Pic also assists schools in reaching out to underserved families and in developing meaningful and effective family engagement policies and activities. During fy17, pic served 2,458 families, the majority of whom were low income or english language learners.
