Standard crimp butt splice connectors can pull loose if not done properly and don\'t seal out moisture which can lead to intermittent connections. The solder ring inside the NTE adhesive lined heatshrink tube enables you to get that perfect connection without using a soldering iron or gun, and no crimping is needed. Just stick your bare wires into each side of the butt connector so they cross underneath the solder ring (without having any bare wires outside the heat shrink tubing). Apply hot forced air, 266° F or higher, to the solder ring until the solder melts and the tubing shrinks tightly around the wire jacket. Inspect the bare wires in the center of the butt connector to ensure they are still crossed and the solder is melted to each wire. The adhesive melts with the solder and the tubing shrinks to give the splice a water tight seal. Heat guns (like our 370-364) reach the desired temperature quickly and work the best. A very hot hair dryer may also work.
