If I'm not paying attention, my soldering iron will fall through the entire unit, allowing the hot iron to touch my work surface, as shown in the photo. That being said, it's very solid and heavy, and I like it quite a bit better than the flimsy springy ones. I didn't use the sponge that was included; I'm usingnbsp; Hakko 599B-02 Wire-type soldering iron tip cleaner nbsp;instead and can highly recommend it.
