Programs: Scientific: american chestnut tree recovery program. To develop a blight- resistant american chestnut tree via the back-cross breeding method. Planting research orchards across pennsylvania and the mid-atlantic region and over 20,000 trees seeded.
environmental education: region-wide presentations, demonstrations, events, website information regarding the history of the american chestnut tree, tree loss, and the recovery process.
