Mission: Pets and Patriots Foundation has a two fold mission: To decrease euthanasia of adoptable pets by providing initiatives for spay/neuter services; and to provide specialized training for rescued dogs to work as service dogs for veterans with PTSD.
Results: Pets and Patriots Foundation has 5 service dog/handler teams currently. Service Dog Liberty works for an Army veteran with a 22-year service record; Service Dog Wendy works for an Army veteran who served in Vietnam; Service Dog Cody works for a retired Navy officer. Service Dog-In-Training Shadow is learning to work for an Army veteran. Service Dog-In-Training Riley is learning to work for a Marine veteran.
Target demographics: Pets and Patriots Foundation assists veterans with PTSD, and pet owners who need assistance accessing spay/neuter services.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Pets and Patriots Foundation placed three trained service dogs with veterans with PTSD in 2016, and has placed one rescued dog as a service-dog-in-training with an Army Veteran in 2017.
