Mission: Founded in 1962, the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation (ACNC) /Phoenix Zoo advances the stewardship and conservation of animals and their habitats while providing experiences that inspire people and motivate them to care for the natural world.
It is the only Zoo in metropolitan Phoenix accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a non-profit zoological park.
Home to more than 3,000 animals, many of which are endangered or threatened species, the Zoo is committed to supporting wildlife and habitat conservation in our region and across the globe through inspired education.
The Phoenix Zoo hosts more than 1.4 million guests annually, including 125,000 school students, making it one of the largest informal science-based learning organizations in the state. Our educators have developed a unique nature-centered, STEM-focused curriculum utilizing wildlife to teach stewardship, responsibility and conservation.

Phoenix Zoo is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1962, and donations are tax-deductible.
