I used one of these pumps for about 5 years and it was fine. When I reordered it the new pump lasted a week and failed. I now have a replacement and it is doing fine so far. However the new Plastic guard system is too flimsy and tends to warp easily.

We installed in our pond immediately upon receiving this pump and we are very happy with the performance. Great price and, so far, great performance.

I repeat: it Works as advertised... so far. The one it replaced had worn through the bearing cup in the plastic impeller housing.Time will tell how long this one lasts. The design for the motor is very good, if only the stationary bearing ends of the rotor will last longer.

I've had very good results with a Pondmaster 535GPM Mag drive pump, so when my waterfall pump quit I immediately looked at the 1800 GPM. So far I'm very happy with the choice. Pondmaster backs up the product with a great warranty. Only hitch is that the prefilter needs to be cleaned more than I'd like. I've got a spare so I rotate the clean filter every few days to keep the waterfall moving at the highest rate

So far, good & powerful. Also came with a rigid pre-filter which I recommend using - it makes a difference.I have a smaller model for many years now & it still works just the same!

I've ran Mag drives in my pond since I started a big pond in 1999. After many years of continuous service this was a replacement drive. On average they've given me upwards of 6 years of contious service. I haven't found any pumps that provide more flow for less energy cost, repair cost, or up front purchase price.

Using this pump for saltwater aquarium. I got this because my other pump burned out after 90 days and had no warranty. I was pissed. So after reading tons of online reviews Danner pumps seemed to be great. I thought 1800 gph pump would be a little stronger but it seems to do the job just fine. Its hooked up to a giant protein skimmer and uv sterilizer. So far so good, seems very heavy duty, thick gauge cable quality build.

The Danner MD 1800 was added to my Aquaponic System and has performed great. Very quiet and very powerful pump. I have heard nothing but good reviews on these pumps and so far I can see why.

I have been using the pump for 30 days in a 1200 gallon paul running for 1 canister filter and then into a waterfall it has kept the water crystal clear and flows great. the fountain is approximately 5 feet above the pond so I have a good 7 foot lift coming out of it since the pump is about two feet under water. I would highly recommend this pump .

I have to agree with Myron on this matter. The pump claims to pump 1800gph,truthfully said it only pumps 1500gph now at 5ft it is only pumping1050-1100gph.With that said i would have bought next size up. All in all good pump, just should have went BIGGER.

Well, as others have said, I found this to be a terrific pump. It's easy to get parts for it when the impeller eventually breaks in a year, as is the way of submersible pumps. It's powerful, doesn't clog easy, and so on.The real problem is the prefilter it comes with is total garbage. The original one was actually worse - it's essentially 2 pasta strainers which have a threading on one side for the pump. They implode\crush within a day or so. The newer model I have comes with a plastic "cog" that goes in the middle to give some structural strength. Unfortunately they really need to do a redesign, not some after-the-fact hack like this, because it still looks like the Hulk crushed it after a day or two.The pump is very, very good, but you will need to get a replacement prefilter. If they didn't include a picture of the prefilter; I'd give this 5 stars; but as they prominently display the prefilter in the image I feel it's considered an integral part of the package and must regretfully knock them down to 3 stars.

I just got the pump in the mail last week. This seems to be a well built pump.I will update later but for now it seems like its sturdy made of metal and heavy duty. I like the idea of being able to replace the impeller. The fitter, strainer seems to be pretty cheap and could use some strengthening.(update) used all summer without any problem.. so easy to take the front off to clean out any junk that get's though the filter.. I highly recommend this pump.. I have a 1800 gal pond and this baby moves some serious water.

This pump claims 1800 gph, but on the box at 0' it states 1500gph. Had they rated it 1500gph, I would have purchased the next size up. The other thing is, I had bought it to fit into my filter box, and with the screen basket attached it is a bit big. The pump is a quiet pump and I am happy with the pump itself. A shorter wider screen would be nice as well.

This pump has power. It's quiet and really moves water. The included inlet screen is nice. I thought I was going to have to buy one separately. Since it's a mag drive unit, it's more energy efficient than other pumps of similar capacity.

This is my third Pond Mag Pump (also on my third Little Giant pump) for a 15 year old 5-level series of koi ponds. What i like about the Pond Mag pumps is that in addition to pumping more water to a higher level than the specs say, it is easy to replace the impeller (which is almost the only part that gives out). They also use less electricity than most pumps. These pumps now come with a foam filter, which works well to keep sediment from getting to the impeller. But you must keep the filter clean! Otherwise sediment will surround it and block off the water flow into and out of the pump. Because my pond has too much mulm and leaf matter floating in it to allow the filter to work adequately more than a few days, i built a cage around it with larger filter material. Now i only need to clean the filter for the pump weekly during the summer.if you don't have a lot of sediment / mulm, or if you do and build a filter cage to protect this pump, it will work well and long.

I've had these in various sizes, from a tiny fountain pump to the 1800 gph, all the same simple design. They have gotten rather pricey but you do get a rugged, reliable pump for your money. They work well, are surprisingly small (but heavy), and last a long time if you 1) always use a pre-filter of some kind, 2) keep the pre-filter from clogging, and 3) never forget to clean the impeller before storing the pump (see below). My only and very slight criticism of the Pondmaster 1800 is that the discharge is rather small for a pump of this flow rate.If you shut down your pump for the winter make sure to disassemble and clean it: Remove the impeller housing, carefully pull the impeller out of the motor (it's held in the motor magnetically so you need to pull it out firmly) and clean everything carefully so there is no grit or pond crud on the impeller or inside the motor housing (I use a tooth brush). Neglecting to clean it can result in the pump binding up just long enough to snap the ceramic shaft when you try to start the pump after it has been in storage. Pump warranties don't cover the impeller--- currently ~$27 for the 1800.

We plugged it in a month ago, and it's been running reliably since. Our old pump, a Beckett, started having problems w/in a year. We like the fact that if this one should have problems, some of the parts can be replaced w/out having to buy a whole new pump. The reviews of this pump are good, so we're keeping our fingers crossed!
