After fighting with green pond water for a few years I decided to try a UV light. Shipping was slow but... Once item arrived I had to call manufacturer for instructions for use. Item included assembly directions but none how to hook up to pump/filter. Once in place I could see a difference within 24 hours and within 5 days my pond was clear! Good product just needs better instructions. Would buy again!

Over the years, I have tried several different Ultra Violet Pond Clarifiers.....this one by far excels above the rest. I like the fact that it has an area on it that lets you know if it is lit and working. Has really kept my pond looking great!

I'm using this in a small pond that uses a 1/2 whiskey barrel to create a waterfall. I simply put the filter in the whiskey barrel and inserted the tube from the put into one end (it slide right in). I didn't need to another tube on the outtake. It has been running for about 2 wks it has noticeably reduced the algae.

I have had this lamp installed in my 160 gallon pond for about a month now. I spend two years fighting a losing battle against blue-green algae. I tried everything from chemicals to changing the filter twice daily. Nothing came close to working but after two days of using this uv lamp my pond was noticeably clearer and after a four I could see the bottom. The lamp works well for a pond my size. Other reviewers have noted problems with the fittings. They were a standard 3/4 and I found no problem picking up hose from the garden section of the local Home Depot. For the adapters, if needed, check out the plumbing isle. I would recommend this product to a friend.

This a good item but it was too small for my use. I returned it with no problems and got one bigger.

I thought I would try a UV clarifier since nothing else was helping my ~800 gallon pea soup pond. My husband bought some tubing and clamped the ends to our pond filter (also a Pondmaster), placed everything at the bottom of the pond and plugged it in. Within a week we could see 1/2 way down (3' deep) and 2 weeks later it is clear! We are very happy with this purchase.

I just put took the clarifier out and put it away for the winter. It kept my pond crystal clear all summer long. Wish I had invested sooner. Love this item!

This is the 10 watt Supreme Pondmaster Submersible UV Clarifier, model 29101. When water is circulated through it, the water is exposed to ultraviolet light that is capable of killing both suspended algae and bacteria. I have used several of these units in both marine aquaria (outside the tank) and in my pond (in the water) and they have performed perfectly. The unit contains a tubular UV bulb protected by a slightly larger quartz sleeve. Danner says that the design causes the water to flow through the unit in a circular manner but I have never cut one open to see how that might be accomplished.Build quality is excellent and I have had no problems with leakage of water either into the interior quartz sleeve and UV tube or out onto the floor. It is important to remember that the quartz sleeve will gradually become partially occluded by deposits on the outside surface. For best results, you should disassemble the clarifier periodically (monthly is about right) and remove and clean the sleeve. Disassembly is quick and easy but be careful with both the sleeve and the tube when you do it.The clarifier works well but beware: Danner advertises that the 10-watt model will be adequate for ponds up to 1500 gallons. This is extremely optimistic. If you begin with a pond that is absolutely clean and algae free, the 10-watt model might keep it that way, if used in conjunction with a good filter. However, if you are installing the clarifier to deal with a pre-existing problem, you should probably not count on it working well for ponds over 500 gallons. My pond is 650 gallons and the 10-watt device is barely adequate. There is relatively little difference (about $30) in the cost of the 10-watt and 20-watt models and using more UV than you need doesn't harm anything and adds at most a few pennies to you electricity bill. If in doubt, go with the 20-watt model. Also, the specification calls for a 700gph pump (1800gph for the 20-watt model). Do not think that you can improve performance by using a larger pump. You probably won't hurt the device but the water will pass through it too quickly for the UV to kill the nasties. A pump that is too small just reduces the speed with which the entire volume of the pond passes through the clarifier. One last caution: DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE UV TUBE WHEN IT IS ILLUMINATED NO MATTER WHETHER IT IS INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE QUARTZ SLEEVE. YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR EYES IF YOU DO SO.

This was one of the only fully submersible in-line clarifiers I could find, and it was reasonably priced here. Unlike some reviewers, I had absolutely no problem hooking it up to my Pondmaster filter and pump with standard 1" tubing. Easy to set up and cleared up my small pond within 3 days. The glowing ring is very helpful to let you know it's working.
