Mission: To provide residential, respite, adult day programming and recreation/community integration to those individuals of all ages who are non-ambulatory with profound to severe physical disabilities as well as profound to severe mental disabilities.
In providing these services, we will support the residents, the community and their families. We will do this by providing highly trained staff to deliver services with respect and dignity for human rights.

Programs: Residential habilitation - residential placement provides person-centered supports to promote independence in a safe and healthy environment. 24-hour personal care is provided to children and adults with developmental disabilities by trained staff and overseen by a program manager and a nurse in each of the organization's six homes. In addition, all residents receive medical care, dietary management (which is monitored by a registered dietitian), recreation opportunities throughout the community, along with occupational, physical and speech therapy as recommended. Residents work on individualized goals and programs through recreational and therapeutic activities.

day services - day services is provided to individuals with developmental disabilities that are non-ambulatory and at least 18 years old. Day services operates monday-friday, 9am-3pm, 225 days per year. Day services participants are involved daily in therapeutic activities that are geared towards achieving individualized goals. Such goals include increasing independence, physical capabilities, communication skills, and choice/decision making. At the heart of all of these goals (and the heart of the organization's day services) is for participants to develop a sense of self-respect and self-worth.

therapy services - pony bird employs a full time physical therapist to provide physical therapy to the individuals who reside at pony bird. Other therapists are contracted through the missouri state medicaid waiver program to provide such therapy services as speech therapy and occupational therapy. A physical therapist is a health care professional who may diagnose and treat individuals of all ages who have medical or other health related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities of daily living. The physical therapist will examine and develop treatment techniques to promote health and restore function. Plans are created and parents and caregivers are educated on the individual's current needs.

respite services - pony bird provides overnight and day respite to families with a non-ambulatory child or adult requiring specialized care. Respite is short-term care provided to an individual to give the primary caregiver(s) a break. Respite can be scheduled for just a few hours to overnight not to exceed two weeks during any one visit. During a respite stay 24-hour personal care will be provided including medical care, dietary management and participation in daily programs and activities.
