I purchased a cheaper unit just 9 months earlier. It was working fine until the lid would not stay secure. Turns out that the lid was held by two tiny 2mm protrusions which easily broke off.So I purchased this unit for a few bucks more. It works so much better, the opening is screwed on using a much sturdier method, similar to a nuts and bolt threading.

This worked out great for our hot tub. It had an attached sting that we wrapped around the dial on the side so it doesn't float all over and stays out of the way.
