I ordered this for my regional qualifying shot putters. I painted it our school colors and at the weigh in it was 9 pounds, not 4 kg. (8.8 pounds). I probably will not get my money back because I painted it.

Works well for me as an at home practice shot, would not use for competition. Chipped the casing when dropped on cement.

Perfect for practice, the paint started chipping right away but that was to be expected. Excellent for everyday use, though probably not for competition.

I purchased this shot put for my son when he joined the junior high track team. As an experienced thrower myself, I wanted to work with him at home and I felt this shot was a good choice for him.* The price is right (Why invest a lot of money when you don't know if they'll stick with it.)* The weight is accurate and appropriate for competition or practiceTip: If you are new to the sport, this weight is appropriate for junior high boys or high school girls. Junior high girls use a 6lb. (2.72k) shot put and high school boys use a 12 lb. (5.44) shot put.

Because of injury, I had to choose a new sport -- one that uses only one arm. So I chose throwing. I haven't taken this to a meet to have it weighed, so I'm not sure it is exactly 4k. However, for practice it is perfect: round, smooth, and heavy. And cheap!

Nice shot put. It doesn't have any engravings on it so it is difficult to use in competitions if they require weight markings; but if the meet doesn't require engravings, it works very well. The silver paint has taken about a month of throwing to come off. Overall a pleasant shot put.

All the other shots were a lot more expensive than this one. The shipping was fast and I got it just in time for my competition . It's smooth and feels evenly weighted throughout. There is no sharp edges and I will be happy to use it for competition thank you for the fast shipping and affordable price.
