This footplate comes with the pin and installed in minutes. It is galvanized so it should not rust and the sides are curved to minimize snagging.

I was never a fan of putting a piece of wood down and having to move it when you hook your trailer up. Bought this works as it's supposed to. I wouldn't recommend driving on the highway with it still on but I've driven plenty on normal roads with it on and it has never popped off.
