OK. I like soft boiled eggs about once a month and always buy jumbo eggs. Followed the directions exactly...1/2 teaspoon of water in bottom of each well, crack egg into water, another 1/2 teaspoon of water on top of each egg, pierce egg white and yolks several times. Cover and microwave 30 seconds per egg. Check every 15-30 seconds. SO...did that exactly. I know this is touted as a poached egg cooker, but thought it would be good to soft boil ones, too, and not burn my fingers when taking the egg out of the hot water and cracking open. Put 3 jumbo eggs in ...jumbo egg almost ran out of each well there is so much egg....started micro for 90 seconds. 20 seconds, a loud pop and one of the egg whites exploded and I'm lucky this cooker has a lid otherwise I'd have egg white all over the inside of my micro. Started micro again and checked at 60 seconds. Put back in micro to finish to 90 seconds. One egg was done perfectly (yolk sorta runny, white done). Other 2 eggs were still a little runny. Ran another 20 seconds in micro. Yum...not exactly like a soft boiled egg, but no burnt fingers. Cleaned in dishwasher. Be aware, a different size egg might cook a little sooner and I used a pointed steak knife to gently poke holes in whites and yolks per instructions. Tiny bit of water still in egg cup, but used a slotted spoon to get egg out of cup and into bowl to eat. Also, be aware of the egg white splatter. No sure if my micro is at the right level watts (700, 1000, 1200 etc). For the price, it's a good little egg cooker. Wonder if it would work to make a scrambled egg...???
