I bought a pair of these shoes in the black and dark brown, both in size 9 width 3E for my dad, who suffers from edema in his ankles due to a bad heart. We tried these shoes in the XX (5E) and X (3E). I was surprised to see there was little difference in the width of the 3E as compared to the 5E, so we opted for the 3E and returned the 5E. The shoes are easy to slip on and off, and can be closed with one hand, and are more dressy than other X-wide-width shoes, so they can be worn with dress pants, but they also go well with a pair of shorts or jeans. My dad said they were comfortable, right out of the box, and required no period o break-in. The soles are somewhat foam-like, but provide a sufficient amount of grip. My dad likes them, and he's the one wearing them, so I'm satisfied with my purchase, and would probably buy more of these when they eventually wear out and need replacement.

The toe box is a little bit narrow. My husbands feet swell and they fit snug; more than I like since I am who puts his shoes on him. The looks of this shoe are fabulously fashionable. The leather outer is very nice. The stitching looks good.My husband says it makes him feel very tall with the shoes on. Lol

My husband has been wearing New Balance shoes for quite a while but they are not compatible with dressy clothes,I bought him a black pair of Propets and he love them and asked me to get him also a brown pair. His feet are deformed by arthritis and good and comfortable shoes are a must. These are the perfect shoes.
