Causes: Environment, Land Resources Conservation

Mission: The putney mountain association believes there is a vital link between human beings and the natural environment. Our primary objectives are to strengthen that link by preserving undeveloped land on windmill ridge in southeastern vermont for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations and to protect the natural habitat and wildlife corridor of the area.

Programs: Mounted a successful major fundraising campaign to acquire two parcels totaling 161 acres on the western slope of putney mountain which will secure our west cliff trail and enhance our brookline trail. Purchase will be completed in 2018, we will have a total of 705 acres contiguous conserved land.

stewardship of 540 acres open to the public for hiking and nature viewing including the putney mountain hawk watch on the summit. Stewardship includes payment of all related property tax and insurance.

education and outreach to members and the public through printing of our bi-annual newsletter and offering lectures and nature walks led by those knowledgeable in various fields.
