i needed to bore a hole through the steel top of a cart. not too thick and the bit worked fine. longevity and durability will remain to be seen but just looking at the bit i would say it will last awhile if you do not abuse it. oil when cutting and let the bit do the work. for the price it was worth it just for the one hole i had to bore.

I purchased this to cut a hole in some sheet metal, for a project I was doing. When the bit finally cut into the metal, it jerked the drill out of my hand. Did this several times. Finally had to finish cutting the hole out with my Dremel. This might work alright on wood or some other softer material, but definitely not metal.

It did what it was ordered for. Downside the measurements posted was slightly off so I had to order a new drill for it to fit but it's rugged and works awesome.

Cut two holes in 1mm thick aluminum. The saw cut the holes no problem, but afterward there were some teeth with quite a bit of wear. This makes me think the longevity of this saw isn't great, but for the price you really can't expect a great tool.

I used it to bore exhaust holes in 3/8 hot rolled.Lots of cutting fluid and as much feed as my (too fast) Crapsman drill could do.No damage or wear noted yet!

The drill bit does not stay in place. Not worth the money.

I bought this because I needed four 1.5 inch holes in 1/4 inch steel. I was expecting a fight for such a cheap price but to my amazement, it cut all four holes in under 10 minutes. I'm a retired contractor so I obviously took precautions to protect the hole saw. Like pre-drilling the pilot hole and keeping the saw soaked in oil for lubrication and coolant. My 10 minute estimate includes pre-drilling and moving from hole to hole. It was a 10 minute job in total. I drilled an 1/8 inch hole. Then a 3/16 hole. Then a matching hole for the pilot. I didn't use the pilot for any cutting. I used the saw for 3-5 seconds and dipped it in a bucket of oil since I didn't have a sprayer handy. It took about 8-10 cycles of cut for 5 seconds and dip.Still can't believe how well it worked for $12. It's still cutting the same speed as the first hole so I can use it again but as far as I'm concerned, it paid for itself already.

I used this to drill a hole in my stackable dryer for the vent. Worked great for sheet metal. Used it with a 1/2 inch portable drill.

I had some weight plates that had a slightly undersized hole for my barbell. This bit did a pretty good job enlarging them from 26-27 mm up the required 28mm. I did about 15 plates, some just slightly reaming the hole, but 5 of them required significant drilling of about 5 minutes per plate. The bit worked well in my drill press for smaller plates, hand drill for large plates. Did not use the pilot bit, just the outer hole saw portion. Now that I am done, the bit shows significant wear and cuts more slowly. I used cutting oil for the cuts. The bit was well worth the purchase price for my application, but if you have many holes to cut, there might be a better product.

If you need standard inch holes with any precision you might want to look elsewhere. But... If that's not in your list of requirements I found decent value in this carbide tipped hole saw. I got it specifically to cut holes in both 1/8 and 1/4 304/316 stainless and it does that acceptably well. Lowest speed on my PorterCable drill press is 300rpm which is significantly higher than recommended for this size hole saw. I kept the bit well lubed and didn't rush the cut. The first hole was quick. The following holes were... less quick but still acceptable to me. Got no idea how many holes one of these bits is good for in 1/4 Stainless Steel but for 9 bucks and 3 holes so far I feel like I'm winning! :>)

This cut multiple holes in heavy steel panels. So it held up for what it costs it does a great job. How long it will last I don't know but it still looks like new at present.

I bought this for a single purpose to cut a hole thru 1/4 sheet aluminum. Cut thru it like butter. BitAppears to be well made and should last a long time.

Did the job but took forever to cut through 1/4 thick steel plate. Did not take damage so it can be used again. Used tons of cutting oil

Needed a hole cutter to drill 72 clean holes for two or more speaker arrays. I was concerned that I might need two to get through the project, so ordered two. The first cutter is still working great after 36 holes (first speaker) and shows no wear. The springs that eject the wood disk only stayed for two cuts, but I don't need them. The cutter came with two pilot drills, i didn't expect that. The complaints that I saw were for this cutter were for metal applications and did not occur with wood. I'm very happy with this product and the cut.

I used this cutter to cut 6, 4 1/2 holes in 3/16 cold rolled steel. At first, it seems to not be drilling accurate as the kerf looked like it was way to thick; however, once completed, the hole is clean and accurate. The final hole size was 4, 9/16th which is just a tad over 4 1/2 - it will work fine. This cutter is a bear to handle in steel with even a large two handed power drill and a lot of Tap-Magic cutting fluid and I found there is a happy medium on cutting speed, too slow it won't cut, too fast and it shrieks and doesn't cut to good either. I did break both of the pilot bits when the cutter broke through the steel - I simply replaced the pilot with an equally sized titanium bit and it worked fine.
