This tap worked for me. Had to redo a cross threaded bolt hole on my Harley. Just took it slow with plenty of oil, and after a few turns I was able to restore the threads. Just take your time.

As a gunsmith I deal with many abused platforms. This tap works wonders for chasing 6-40 screws like scope rings and small trigger group screw holes. Ordered and it showed up as promised.

The (6 pack) is actually a (1 pack). The only discernible difference between the (6 pack) and the one marked individually is that the single took 3 days to o arrive and the (6 pack) took 2 months.

It broke like plastic, I brought the Irwin brand and I finish my project like nothing, so don't waste your time with this cheap tap.

Had to retap a hole on my bugout because the screws kept falling out. Fixed the problem and still working great. A must have for the EDC guy/gal in your life.

I was in a hurry so I couldn't get the right tool, I ended up welding a socket onto this tool. I read some reviews and I was a little worried but this worked perfectly and I experienced no issues for my application. I used this to clear the rust out of the threads in the back of my car which is where you attach a trailer hitch. I used penetrating oil two days before the attempt and brake cleaner as a lubricant. I read about another guy who had a hard time with this, I wonder if he used any oils before hand or just tried to run it dry. In my case everything worked great.

Even with cutting oil and going super slow, sheared off multiple of these. Don't recommend.

I hand tapped over 30 holes at 4mm depth for some grub screws and they all came out perfect. Lots of the negative comments are from misuse. Remember to use cutting oil and back out a little constantly. Most importantly, make sure you are pre-drilling the right size diameter hole before tapping. The correct size can be found online. For an M4 tap, you need a 3.3mm hole.

I used the tap to cut internal threads in a stainless steel 304 rod turning in a lathe. It cut 50 depth threads (0.330 tap drill) in a very slow, tedious process. Successful - OK.

Benchcrafted sends machine-threaded screws to attach the Retro Crisscross and Glide hardware for their renowned leg vise, rather than wood lag bolts/screws. Surprisingly for me, they actually worked quite well. This Bottom Tap has thread cutters almost to the end of the tool, allowing you to drill a hole slightly longer than the effective depth of the screw, unlike the taps available at big-box home improvement stores which have a longer distance between the full-sized cutting thread and the end of the tap. Since I'm using it on Southern Yellow Pine, there's no appreciable wear on the tap while using it, and it was the right tool for this job.

This cut well, was sharp and easy to use. I only tapped two holes, so I can't speak to durability.
