Jan2023: a performer for the price point, cuts cleanly with properly ground/dressed flute edges. Nickel-alloy content similar to more expensive taps thus easier to get started in steel.. At least the ones i received this order weren't like the poorly manufactured threads you see too often.

Nice tap. Made out of metal. Surprised that it came from China but looks as though it could have been made in India. Came with neat plastic storage box that pulls apart. I don't know why but mine has a faint smell of a grilled cheese sandwich. If that troubles you then maybe you should see if they have different flavors? I bought this to repair bolt holes but I'm sure it will come in handy to throw across the shop or at something when I get frustrated. Makes a nice Christmas gift for the handyman that has everything! I just wish it could have been made in Mexico or at least California as I like to purchase high quality crap to use once and then throw away, but I suspect I'll lose this one like I misplace everything else! Y'all have a great day and keep on tapping!

Would not retap nut but it may not be taps fault this was a special type nut, keeping anyway for what ever I may need a big 1 1/4 tap for. Nicely packed in its own plastic box.

I use this tap on a small block Chevy bell housing just to clean the threads if they get rusty or whatever just for clean up and I'll get a good bolt makes a good bolt thread for your new bolts

Nice, easy and quick transaction. Tap set was perfect for reclaiming a 10-24 thread on a tool that woud have cost $50 or more to replace.

That is not a taper tap ever if marked taper on container. Not tapered like shown on picture of order.

Not my first choice in toolmakers but Drill America makes some decent quality taps, as are their drill bits.

Made a custom knob. Was able to screw the shaft all the way to the bottom of the hole.

I really wish they could have been supplied in high speed steel, instead of carbon steel. I tap some tough materials, and I have concerns how long these will hold up.

I didn't need all 3 but it was a size I didn't have out of my 500 taps I have so I figured get all 3 . For me this is the size for my 3point hitch on my tractor

You must choose which type of starter threads is best for your needs. Seven thread taper is for cutting new threads in soft metals, cased iron, or plastic. Use lots of oil. The shorter-length starter tap is best for cleaning existing threads. The super short starter thread tap is for finishing bottoming threads. I showed this tap to my friend that makes taps for a living and he said it looked ok but his stuff was much better and made of M2 tool steel. Then I told him the price and he said no, he couldn't do that for that price. Couldn't even buy the blank steel needed at that price.
