I got the 1/4-20 tap and it was very sharp and strong. Just remember when tapping by hand, be sure to use tapping fluid and to back out your tap and clear out the chips as soon as you see or feel the tap itself starting to twist, and repeat until done, don't push the tap any farther than that or you risk it breaking it. I used this tap in 8 holes in 3/8 in thick steel of my 1,000 lb capacity garden wagon frame, and it was still sharp as new.

This is supposed to be a 2 flute spiral point 1/4-20 tap.. the 1/4-20 is correct but this is a 4 flute bottoming tap..

Well, the picture says it all. Ive only broke 1 other tap in my life, this is the second. Got about 1/4 inch in and snap. Luckily i have a spare but now hesitant to use that one also. I don't even know what to say, and yes i know how to use tap and die sets.

Working in an elementary school, I discovered that the adjusting screw for desk legs that had been used weren't really the right size. Turns out there was no right size, but this tap made short work of producing a tapped hole that perfectly fit the available screws.

8--32 tap worked well. I used as a re-threader in an old junction box so I could use two semi-corroded screw holes

I had some devices that I wanted to thread in order to allow me to fit them onto the standard camera tripod 1/4-20 screw, and this tap was exactly what I needed. The tap feels high quality, and it cuts clean, precise threads. I used it on about 30 aluminum inserts so far and the tap still looks as good as new!

originally bought the Dewalt package, which is really, really hard steel it snapped in the hole. Now this is a really small screw in a lawnmower, holding the transformer in place that sparks the spark plug as the magnets float by, so I couldn't go bigger. Used a grinder to make an [X] on top center of hole titanium impact bits from Harbor Freight to cut the initial hole break bit.The larger grooves some PB blaster, allowed the metals to collect as I turned the new tap, so I could screw unscrew, blow out/wipe repeat, until the hole was clear for a new screw to go in.Dewalt's pack, just didn't have deep enough grooves for the metals snapped when I was unscrewing, which was likely my fault. But this bit allowed me to go deeper, so it was quicker a better choice for my project.
