I had an antique made of cast iron and had several crusted shut or heavily rusted bolt holes. I bought this tap in the 1/2-12 size. It opened, chased and rethreaded all the holes without skipping a beat. I locked the tap in a pair of Vise Grip pliers and turned slowly. It cut right through the rust first pass and brought those 80 year old bolt holes back to life. I was really impressed with the quality of the tap for the price.

Needed a bottoming tap for a hole that needed to be fairly shallow. After running the regular tap in and out, I followed up with this one and all was perfect. Arrived quickly and works great. May not need again for a while but I know its there when I do.

Used this tool to clean out threads for rock rails on a Toyota Tacoma. Sprayed a little WD 40 on threads and screwed it in. It worked flawlessly. Now all of the bolts fit as they should.

Bought this to clean up threads on a trailer hitch mount. Chucked it up in a drill since I wasn't expecting much issues, but the drill chuck destroyed the shank as if it were annealed - never seen that happen so easy/quick.Turned to a hand held tap wrench. The first nut I went through completely wore out all the cutting teeth on all 4 flutes. The condition of the nut is the exact same as before.Sometimes thread repairing can be hard on taps depending on nut material/condition - but this job was not particularly demanding, a single decent tap should have been able to do all the nuts I have to do.

Every few years I fall in to the trap of buying cheap taps... Don't do it. Buy quality taps.Tried cutting threads in 4130 (annealed) and the tap felt like it was about to break. Made it 2 threads in before I stopped.

I had a Craftsman tap that I tried using. I was tapping the center of a grade 5 bolt so I could screw a smaller bolt in the middle of it. The Craftsman tap was hard to turn and ended up twisting. I used the Drill America tap and had no problems. It worked smoothly and tapped all the way down to the bottom of the hole.

Used to tap some profile end holes in 8020.net branded T-slot aluminum extrusion, size 4080 (light). The pre-existing extrusion central pair of holes were already the perfect size for this dia tap.Didn't even bother with tapping oil, just swiped it with a touch of lithium grease I happened to have nearby, slotted it into the squirrely little two-screw-style T-grip 'handle' and went to town. 4 flutes helped the swarf loosen right out, only had to back up a half turn about every 3-4 turns to start, then about every other once getting pretty deep, so it didn't feel like it was binding up too much.Bolts threaded right in nicely afterward, so obviously it worked. Not giving it a rating for durability though because I obviously didn't challenge it, but appears to be in fine shape for more of the same when I need to next time.
