This sandwich toaster was designed for a 12 inch leprechaun not for a normal sized human being. In other words, the actual toasting dish at the end is just not large enough for a decent size sandwich.

Great pie iron

These things are DELIGHTFUL! They make toasty bread pockets sealed around creamy stuffing. To get them seasoned, I am rubbing with vegetable oil and then putting them in to the open but warm oven. We used them camping and using them for the first time in the dark at our picnic table, toasting our food on the roaring fire was an absolute blast. I don't think kids could use these - they are long and the cast iron cooking part is heavy. But even if you mis-judge the time required to toast your bread and melt your filling, you just end up with yummy not-toasted bread that is drenched in butter and whatever your filling is. Yes, the folks who speak of peanut butter and marshmallow fillings are correct....that was GOOD! So are all the savory fillings we came up with. In fact, we are so enamored of these Pie Irons that we are using them now that we are home, heating them up over the gas burner on the stove! I had no idea what these were when I bought them, from some other site, for more $, (dumb) but I am so glad I got them! Looking forward to getting the waffle maker also made by the same manufacturer. Although these are made in China, the product support is Rome Industries, with folks working in either Peoria Illinois or Madison Wisconsin, and they are real people who are helpful and fabulous and responded to an email of mine within 12 hours. With real humans writing honest language, NOT some gross corporate baloney, and guaranteed, NOT a bot! It really endeared me to them, the way they responded and were so real and straightforward. haven't used yet, but they are very sturdy, nice quality. Can't wait to try them out.

I am an avid camper and lover of poggie pies. That being said I have run through my fair share of pie irons. These are the best designed irons I have used. They are made of thick cast iron which stands up to frequent use and provides for even heating. The design places the clip that secures the two parts at the top with a notch to prevent it from sliding to the base of the iron. No more burnt fingers!!!! They are really well made and I would highly recommend.

Great product! Made campfire cooking fun and simple.

This works pretty well, but it's a bit more fussy than the square one with regular bread because you have to trim the bread to fit every time. It might be better reserved for biscuits and dough.

Defective design, broke first time using.

I loves these. I bought a couple more because they get used so much while camping.

Broke the first time I used it. Did not even make anything in it yet. I understand it is a cheaper price, but I would think I would get at least one meal out of it.

These are prefect for camping and making pizzas, pies, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, basically anything you want to eat when camping.

I bought these to make pudgy pies over our campfire. I made sure to do a few round of oil and heat over our gas grill at home to season them before we used them at camp. Don't skip that step! They worked great.

Have used these on our camp trips and also for cub scouts for cast iorn cooking and other things. They are always fun they are quick and the kids love them. Its easy to use just keep an eye out that ya dont burn your snack. They are much much more versatile than you would think for making meals. Side note: a can of cooking spray goes a long way to making these work great.
