Mission: Founded in 1961 the Raleigh Rescue Mission is a faith-based (Christian) nonprofit organization providing short and long-term care every day of the year to the men, women, and children who are experiencing homelessness. Each adult and child enters into our proven New Life Plan to help rebuild their lives and assist them from homelessness to self-sufficiency living in a permanent home. Each individual that enters the Mission is invited to enter into the New Life Plan, a six-phase, 2-year program that provides the framework to achieve self-sufficiency and break the cycle of poverty. This plan charts a clear path to finding a livable-wage job/career, obtaining transportation, affordable rent housing and eventually homeownership. Children that enter the Mission with their parent also enter into a customized plan designed to assist them to excel in school, set them up for success in higher education, and to break the cycle of generational poverty. (Less)
