I bought a couple of these kits so far, and have tried the bean and veggie soup. The first time I cooked it, I followed the instructions, exactly- the beans were hard And the carrots were chewy. So I threw it all in a pan and simmered it on the stove. It never really got any better. I contacted the company, and they sent me a replacement bag. When I prepared that, I pretty much had the same problem with the beans , except the carrots were not chewy. Not sure what's going on . The flavor was good. And I suppose in a SHTF situation it wouldn't matter as much . However, I want these meals for non-catastrophic events .

I would put most of these meals in the good category of taste. But there is no doubt that some of these meals taste better than others.What I mean is that some of these meals taste great.Other meals have the bland taste normally associated with preserved dry foods. These are not my 1st choice for dinner.The good point is that several of these meals comes with real meat in them. The meat has been dried and needs to be rehydrated with HOT water, but it's not bad in several of the meals.Make no mistake, a few of these meals are meals that I would never choose.So this is a mixed choice on your taste buds.

I'm not a big fan of cookie dough due to the thick texture. But I love this freeze dried cookie dough because it gives you the taste of cookie dough without the thick texture.

Just a minor nitpick, but the contents weren't exactly the same as what's listed.Received 2x of the pasta alfredo, but not the lasagna. Possibly mispacked, or more likely an extra pasta alfredo was substituted because there was no lasagna.Anyway, it's a minor nitpick on my part because I kinda like to get what is advertised that I'm paying for.

Used these packets on hunting trip deep in back country, easy to prepare but some of packets didn't mix fully. Would be good to use longer spoon or fork to prevent getting food on hands while eating. Packets could be reduced in height to allow easier mixing and eating. Food has good flavor but could use more spice.

I was surprised how tasty this was. The cooking time is a little short in the directions, I would let thus steep in the bag for a good 20 minutes or more

I've only had the broccoli/cheese and teriyaki chicken so far, but man are these good. I heat up some water while camping and dump it in the bag. After around 12 minutes, I cut the top half of the bag off and use it as a bowl. Prep and cleanup are easy.My only suggestion to ReadyWise would be to offer this much food in small portions. I struggle to eat a whole bag in one sitting, but I don't really have the setup or instructions to break it out into small portions. There is something like 2.5 servings per bag.

I added more spices and flavors. I always add more to all my freeze dried food. Big servings. Worth the price.

Purchased to have some emergency food for snowstorms, all real ingredients! Tried a two year old meal, and it was actually wonderful. Tried every meal now, they are all surprisingly good, even the meals that I didn't think I would like. I find myself occasionally munching on one just because. If you are prepping for the end of the world, or just want some shelf stable food for a temporary emergency, this is a great choice. Also, probably not a bad idea to quickly feed a kid or student something that is not microwaved. My picky eater of a kid eats these with me without a complaint.

Best meals I've had while camping. Portions are great for one person who's a big eater or two people who eat smaller portions. Price is great I'm comparison to all other options. Taste is wonderful for a packaged meal. Most of my seasonings were on bottom - definitely mix from the bottom of pouch up.Plan to buy again when supply is low

We usually get Mountain House Lasagna, but thought we'd try this. It's not even close. The MH noodles are way more substantive, better tasting. The MH sauce and overall flavor are good enough to eat on a regular basis. This stuff was bland, with not even a hint of italian flavor, and was like a soup - that you won't eat twice. We've found Mountain House to be far superior in every way to the equivalents from ReadyWise and MH is usually cheaper.
