A must for a spare. This little part will shut the heater off if it senses outside odors. Must be replaced to work. Takes on a minute to replace and is working again. Good to keep one around in case.

I am an engineer. I tried every reset trick on the internet. I was about to cough up the money for a professional repair or replacement. The low cost of this water heater was because the model was discontinued and genuine factory parts are not available or sold at ridiculously high prices if you find one online. This sensor is easily fouled by floor cleaning vapors and humidity. Once tripped it doesn't reset. And it makes your water heater appear FUBAR. I saved a ton of money with the sensor. Truly a jewel.

It is stupid that this sensor shuts down the water heater and there is no override, but with that said it was quick and easy fix. Hoping this one last the life of the water heater.

I have one of these on order for an A O Smith/State water heater and it has a long delivery time, this one looked the same and had the same resistance, so I gave it a shot, since it was same day delivery and I had a tenant with no hot water. It worked like a charm, the blower and burner started right up!!! The bracket fitting it into the water heater was different, but easily modified. I'll probably put the OEM part in when/if received, and keep this one for back up in my inventory, this was a life saver, so happy, I gambled and won.

Ordered this part to replace faulty sensor in Rheem Water Heater. The 1st item received was faulty as well. Ordered a second sensor and worked as it should. These are very sensitive sensors.

While refinishing my wood floors, the flammable sensor on my water heater failed due to so much dust and fumes in the air. The diagnostic code indicated a failed sensor. I ordered the new sensor and within 4 hours had the new one. It is very easy to replace and install. Water heater began working immediately after the new sensor was installed.
