Are you an aunt, uncle, or grandparent of a young child? Do you enjoy giving toys to drive your children or siblings slightly crazy? Then this is the perfect toy for you!

Actually, though, my stepbrother and his wife loved this toy. They're all very musically talented, so they loved the idea that I was encouraging their son to play a drum.... they just make sure to put it away somewhere high when it's not drum-time.

This drum is light enough for a small child to lift, and the mallet isn't too hard so you're not lightly to be hurt with it if you're accidentally smacked with it. This is another toy that will be passed down the to younger son in the family once he's old enough to use it, since it's durable and is still being used after 3+ years.

My two year old son loves this, granted he is in a music class and his teacher has one just like it! I bought it for him for Christmas and he is still playing with it six months later.

I try to buy Remo instruments now for my grandchildren due to the quality and also the eye candy that they are for children. They take music class and their teacher uses Remo instruments too. This is great and it is just like it looks. It is made very sturdy. My grandchilddren love it.

I love the bright colors, the hand-held feature, and the sturdiness of these drums. Adults can hold it for the younger ones. Lends itself to great marching activities.

We were using these drums in our son's music class. I knew I just had to get him his own and have not been disappointed.

Nice size, nice sound, nice price. We enjoy using them in group therapy with adolescent boys who like to make noise!

My autistic child had a music therapist visit her during a recent hospital stay. She fell in love with this drum! It's cute and very sturdy, the latter being very important for my kiddo!

This is a great drum. The sound is great, not cheap or annoying. It is rather sturdy too. We throw it in the toy box with other stuff.

I've owned a lot of drums in my time - from "adult" bongos, drum-circle-style drums, irish drums, African drums, etc. and I've bought my share of "children's" drums. When kids come over to my house and dig through my instrument bag, these Lollipop drums are always the ones they reach for first. They are colorful, easy to hold, easy to strike, lightweight yet make a great sound. They're so sturdy, I cannot imagine the kind of abuse that would be needed in order to somehow break one of these (besides possibly the handle, which itself is no shirker in the sturdiness department.

Conclusion: Light and easy to hold, colorful design (even adults I know love the design and will happily pick one up to use during drum circles), nice sound, VERY sturdy...should last pretty much forever :D

My 2 year old loves this drum. It's small enough to pick up and drum while walking around. It is of instrument quality, not a cheap toy. I also recommend the floor drum.

We gave this to our 3-year old granddaughter for Christmas and it was a hit! She loved it and immediately started "playing" a tune. Luckily, as others have said, it isn't overly loud. I should add that her 13-month old little brother immediately went for the stick and started chewing on it. It really shouldn't be purchased for children who are still putting everything in their mouths!

played with these at Gymboree classes and it was always his "go to" item. Ordered it here and he was thrilled to get it. He's now nearly 4 and still enjoys playing with it from time to time. Fun to look at and has a nice sound. Great gift idea!

You can look through my other reviews and there is a Lynn Kleiner Remo drum as well. I really liked that one but in the long run the kids didn't really take to it because it required too much fine motor skill to make it sound decent. This drum, with it's fixed handle rather than flexible handle, can be made to sound good even when they are only one or two. They can prop it against a leg and have it be decent, or the 2 1/2 year old can actually hold it and pound it which is ideal. I also ordered the smaller size as this is closer to the size of a dinner plate and a bit too heavy for the not quite one year old.

Beautiful sound, compelling graphic for children, easy to use, not hard on the parents ears.

And I forgot to mention the durability - makes a great sound against the brother's head without breaking. Makes a great sound when hit with the remote, a shoe, a maraca, a dump truck, and a ball as well. All without sustaining any damage.

This is a great toy, colorful, well made, pleasant sound, and the kids love it. Would definately recommend for any 2 to 4 year old.

So, it is very loud, even if it's just a gentle little girl playing it. If you don't want a loud toy, don't get this. But if you don't mind a loud drum, it's wonderful. Very manageable for toddlers - she got it at 24 months and still loves it 6 months later.
