I used a wooden topper and it felt too heavy. As a beginner with the bodhran, I feel this ripper is way more my speed for learning. Enjoy!

Much better for me, as an absolute beginner, than the ball-end tipper that came with my bodhran. I found it easier to play along with instructional videos using this.

Total garbage...don't waste your money. Looks like something a kid made in kindergarten.

For those just getting started, this makes strokes and doubles very easy. It's light and solid enough to feel nimble.

This tipper has a nice hearty balanced weighted feel, gives a good thud and makes triples and rolls a dream!

The rattan is in some kind of 'shrink wrap' coating with printing on it and looks super tacky. I'm going to have to rewrap this with something more natural. On top of that, the rattan slides around and I have to keep poking it back in. Ai!

It works well regardless of which grip I choose to use.

Bought it thinking I'd get a cloth wrapped tipper, instead its got an o-ring rubber band on the end, and what feels like wire shrink wrap in the middle that slides up and down easily. Glad to have the rattan and will end up re-wrapping it myself but annoyed it doesn't match the photo at all

I'm a freelance percussionist, so I play a wide variety of instruments. I had made my own bamboo tipper for a gig because what I had wasn't suited to what I was playing. I bought this as a secondary option and it is my new general use tipper. Handles triplets well, gets a full sound and is a great length. For fast up/down strokes, this will work, but takes a lot more effort, so maybe not a good choice if you're playing a long gig with fast songs.

I'm a beginner, but this tipper allowed me to do things I couldn't with my thick knobbed tipper. Just messing around, I started doing triplets. That's good enough for me! And for a center grip, the notch feels good.
