It's a great idea. Fits fine. The design is odd. There's a pocket directly in the small of your back. If you have anything in it, it digs into your lower back. You can't move it to the sides. Next, when you fill your pockets, it digs really noticeably into your neck. The weight is not evenly distributed across your shoulders. The zippers are good, so I added a star there, but the battery backup/headphones pocket is really oddly placed and hard to manage. The zipper should just be on the top. If I had a seamstress or seamster, I'd make some changes, but I'll probably just toss this in the donation bin. I got a tan one with better pockets and no pain in the neck.

I ordered the large vest. Same size I buy for other clothing however, the vest runs large and I returned it for a refund and bought the medium size. There must be a restocking fee for returns. I bought for $46.98 and am being refunded $33.64

I really want to like this vest. The pockets are great. The weight of the fabric is great. The cut is great. Maybe I'm just not the buying-clothes-over-the-internet kind of guy. If you're interested in this vest, see what I'm being picky about, and factor it into your decision. It could be perfect for you.

I just can't really like it due to a couple little factors. The first being a weird curve in left zipper, causing the vest to poke/swoop out about an inch at the bottom when zipped, even with the inside pockets being filled.

Also, the sizing is kind of a gamble, as I followed the sizing guide, but it is pretty baggy. Sloppy baggy. Baggy enough that I will probably only use it during the winter over a heavier jacket. Better sizing/fit references would have helped me order a size down to fit more close to my body. I understand a little room to allow for filling pockets, but not that much. Filling the pockets enough to keep it from swinging around causes it to be lumpy; both options make it obvious that I am carrying a bunch of stuff around. Maybe a photo on a model would have helped.

I should note that my chest is 42", so I ordered a medium that said 38"/40" chest. I can fit both of my fists between the vest and my chest with room to spare.

I would suggest ordering down a size. Getting the right size the first time may have allowed me to overlook the zipper protrusion. Perhaps the protrusion wouldn't be there if it fit properly. I don't know. As-is, I would have to go through the hassle of returning and gambling again, and I'm just not that kind of person.

Two stars deducted for weird curve to zipper, baggy sizing, and not wanting the hassle of sending back to try again. I'm washing and drying it with every load of laundry to see if I can't love it. I really want to.

Not really an advocate of so many hidden pockets. Good for security but inconvenient! Seems to be well made. Having no collar would have been better for me. The standup collar is not comfortable for me. I purchased for travel, undercover not so much.

In July of 2015 I bought a ExOfficio Flyq vest Lite Khaki large for a trip to Africa. I did not want one with pockets hanging out for lenses and such. I am a 44 regular about 200# 5'10". It was snug but I really liked it. It was very important that the luggage only weighted 10 kg (22 pounds) so heavy small electronics went in the vest. Now heading to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Russia, and Iceland for about a month. I thought a slightly heavier vest would be ok in cooler areas and I got the Rothco large. Frankly brilliant. The flyq is light, but not that much lighter. The Rothco is very roomy, at the same size purchased. The pockets are virtually identical except there is only one zip breast pocket instead of 2. No big deal. On our weight limited flights I am confident I can offload external batteries, smaller backup cameras, phones, etc to this vest and 1- they wont show, and 2- the vest will not be tight. I have not washed it yet so I don't know how it will hold up. Testing all the zippers they feel pretty substantial. There is room for my ipad mini and a kindle fire 7, and the other stuff i mentioned above. Not to mention, the Rothco was $20 less this week than the ExOfficio was 2 years ago. Update- Ipad mini with leather case and keyboard in the left lower pocket, Kindle 7 in the right lower pocket, galaxy note 4 left inside upper, Nexus 6 right inside upper, and several pockets left to use. The black and slightly large in size hides it better than my travel buddies Scott Vest.

I am a normal sized woman and thought that a medium in a men's would, if anything, be a little large but I like most of my clothes to be loose fitting. It is not loose fitting -- maybe if I finally lose that 10 pounds it will fit better. It is not impossible for me to wear but not what I consider a good fit.
