I liked this wool blanket it is not picky like the other wool blanket I have. It is soft and the smell is not as strong as other wool blankets.

This blanket made a perfect dark ages cloak for a historical costume. I wanted something that looked like real wool at an affordable price and this blanket was a good solution. The size is good and the color is nice. This blanket does stink quite a bit though. I washed it in a machine and air dried it. There was a lot of fuzz that came off the blanket, but I expected that since I read the other reviews of this blanket. I just scooped the fuzz out of my machine and shook out the blanket on my kitchen tile so I could just sweep up the fuzz that came off. It was a lot of fuzz, but the blanket was still intact and it didn’t do anything to my wash machine. My only regret is not washing it with more soap because the blanket still had a strong smell after washing it. I had only used a little soap because I wasn’t sure what the soap might do to the blanket. Anyways, I reckon the smell will wear off with use, so I’m not terribly worried about the smell.

As mentioned in other reviews, the blanket arrived with a strong chemical odor. My first thought was to wash it, but the tag states to dry clean only. That wasn't practical for me, so I washed it in my machine on the delicates setting. The odor was still there, so I washed it again, then let it air for a few days, and sprayed it with deodorizer. Overall, it's an ok blanket. It definitely is not like the one I had in the military. It's soft and lightweight, good for indoor use, but I wouldn't want to be out in the cold with it.
