So this is a fantastic, well built Tire/Wheel Carrier. Very easy to install and I love that the screw holes for the wheel bolts are factory threaded into the metal bracket. The others that I was looking at were not and basically, it would create a problem in taking the tire off in an emergency because the back nuts would spin. This will not have that problem. For the three tire bumpers, I painted three 1.25 pvc pipe, painted them black and used a M6 x 60MM bolt to use with the combined length of the rubber bumper and pipe (there are three of these to keep the tire from swinging against your tail gate. Now for the issue: There are two bolt patterns with this. 5x4.5 which is standard TJ right on through 2006. But for anyone putting a more modern wheel/tire from 2007 and after, those bolt patterns are 5x5 and have been that way up until now. However, the ONLY bolt patterns on this metal tire carrier are 5x4.5 and 5x5.5. 5.5? Who the F uses that any more lol ? Well only CJ8, CJ7 and CJ5 which were the models before the YJ (5x4.5) and 10 years before the TJ (5x4.5). So YOU WILL NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER $50 on a 5x4.5 to 5x5 spacer for you to put any modern (aka 2007 to now) tires on this. But it is sturdy as heck.

I switched my 2001 Jeep TJ from 30x9.5R15 to 31x10.5R15 tires which couldn't be mounted on the OEM spare mount. This mount is very strong and relatively easy to switch out using original mounting hardware. It extends the spare wheel 2” farther from the tailgate and elevates the third brake light about 2.5” to accommodate up to 33” or even 35” spares but they may be too heavy for a simple tailgate mount. The tailgate spare stop bumps also need to be extended to stabilize the spare.

With just a little modification, I made this spare tire carrier work on my 1980 CJ5. It is super sturdy and a good value for the money.

My old one had welded seams. The seams were along the top edge, so over time, the weight of a big-a$$ spare tire broke the weld.I was impressed with this product for three reasons:1. It looks great and feels very sturdy2. It's made from a single piece, I.e., no critical welds to break3. It fit the old holes perfectly.Every time I work on the Jeep, it always turns into a major retrofit. Not with this tire carrier. I'm really happy. Took about 10 minutes to install, including opening the box.

This one has been a great addition to the Jeep and by far heavier than the original spare tire mount

I purchased this kit to make a custom spare tire holder for my enclosed trailer. The construction is heavy duty and as a metal fabricator I would rate the durability of this kit a 10 out of 10.

The solid plate appears to be HD, but the hardware they supplied was cheap and the incorrect size for the TJ tail gate.

There's not a lot to it, so I'd say it's a bit over priced but it serves it's purpose. It comes equipped with mounting holes for 5 on 4 1/2 and 5 on 5 1/2 wheel bolt patterns. However I'm running JK wheels on my TJ and those are 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Rather than you use a spacer/adapter that would push tire further out from the tailgate, I just drilled and tapped 3 new 1/2-20 holes and it's a perfect fit, nice and tight to the Jeep. If it would have come with the third option for bolt pattern, I would've rated 5 stars.
